Mechanics of Structures 

The basic skeleton structure of the building consists of columns and beams.  My building is an RCC structure and the diagram above is a structural diagram of a room in my apartment. It shows the room plan, terrace above and the type of foundation beneath. The structure consists of primary and secondary beams. The primary beams transfer the load from secondary beams onto the columns distributing the load equally. 
In this course we were supposed to learn the positioning and functionality of skeleton structures. we learned about the types of foundation and how the materiality of a building affects the structural framework. 
we also looked at different built forms to get a better understanding of structures and forms
